Welcome We've collated a number of pages for you to peruse the many uses of our fast growing Willow and Poplar trees along with advice on preparation and planting.
Bowhayes Trees was established in 1992 as a specialist nursery propagating Hybrid Willow and Poplar trees and it has continued to grow from there.
From conversations with our clients, it has become obvious that not only do they want fast-growing screening offered by the willow and poplar, but they are often looking for great quality native trees and hedging from a company they could trust.
We have gradually branched out to offer a more diverse range of native trees and hedging whilst holding on to our core specialty. We're now really pleased to be able to offer a fantastic range of our country's best loved trees and hedging for purchase online.
Our products have found their way into planting schemes across the country and have been used for a number of different projects such as the creation of heritage oak woodlands, development of a new pinetum, landscaping for housing developments, caravan parks, golf courses, and the regeneration of industrial land. Of course, whilst these are all large projects, we remain grounded at our core and provide trees and hedging for everyday planting schemes both big and small.
This is a family business with an experienced team behind us so if you have a planting scheme you are working on, we would love to work with you. Give us a call, or drop us an email.
Bowhayes Trees are the UK's premier suppliers of evergreen and native hedging, bareroot and rootballed trees of various sizes and large containerised trees.
Additionally, we are the UK's longest established growers of hybred willow and poplar. These fast growing trees are used for screening, Short Rotation Coppicing (SRC), bank stabilization and windbreaks to name just a few uses.

These Hybrid Willow and Hybrid Poplar trees have been produced by natural plant breeding techniques. The result has led to the propagation of our own selection of very vigorous clones that will grow approximately two meters per year - 6 to 8 feet. They are very hardy and will cope with the poorest of soils and very exposed sites, making them good for screens, hedges, windbreaks, fuel, game cover, logs, timber, and 'nurse trees' around slower growing species. They are also very effective for the rapid improvement of new and developing golf courses and general landscaping.
Both the poplars and willows are available as strong well rooted trees and/or unrooted setts (cuttings). Rooted trees are available at up to 8' tall and unrooted trees (cuttings) at any length from 12 inches to 6 feet (30cm to 180cm).
Shipping & Delivery
Most orders are dispatched within 3-5 working days where stocks are available. If they are not available at the time of order you will be notified and an alternative delivery date discussed with you.
We ship to mainland UK and the Isle of Wight (although surcharges may be incurred in some more remote areas). Our orders are generally sent out using a national courier but for local deliveries, we may use our own couriers. Orders can also be collected from the nursery by prior appointment and we are more than happy for you to do this if you prefer.
Our standard delivery charge is £15 plus VAT. This is for a next day delivery service in areas where this is available (i.e. mainland UK). For areas outside mainland UK, such as northern Ireland, Isle of Man, Channel Islands, Scottish islands and mainland Europe, we can often offer delivery but will need to discuss the costs of these with you, so please call us to discuss on 01404 811229. There's usually no need to wait in for a standard delivery, our couriers will leave it in a safe place for you. If there is somewhere in particular you would like it left, please let us know at the time of ordering.
For taller plants or a larger volume (particularly root ball trees), a pallet may be required. We will let you know at the time of your order as this will usually incur an additional fee. With pallet deliveries, it is preferred that someone be in to accept delivery as they are often harder to manoeuvre and the driver will need someone to show him where the pallet can be safely unloaded.
