Welcome King's is a community of learning. A community because staff, pupils and parents share common values and purpose - the ambition to be the best, the benevolence to care for each other, and co-operation and teamwork. We do a lot together - not just sport and music and drama, but over 150 activities and clubs. And we love learning: we are passionate about great teaching, but above all we all learn all the time. We are down-to-earth, but we have some of the best pupils and staff you would see anywhere. All this makes King's a truly remarkable place. Please do come and visit us
Our ethos is to inspire your children to reach their full potential. As you would expect our academic record is outstanding but what makes King's special is the all-round education which equips pupils for their life beyond school.
From their first day in the Junior School as an enthusiastic and excited child to their last day in Sixth Form as a mature and confident young adult, their journey will be fully supported. Our outstanding teachers are specialists in their chosen fields whose commitment to your children goes far beyond their teaching duties.
Co-education has been extremely successfully established throughout the school. Girls now experience the wonderful opportunities King's has to offer. In the 10 years since its introduction, girls account for almost 35% of all students and 40% of some years are now girls. Girls at King's are achieving excellent results at GCSE (97%A*/B) and A Level (98% A*/a), dispelling the myth that girls achieve more in single sexed schools.
Vision The King's School inspires young people to embark on life confident of their place in the world and able to become leaders in it. We aim to be one of the country's leading co-educational day schools, providing a transformative experience for all pupils within the King's family. The School harnesses and enriches the academic, creative, spiritual and physical potential of both staff and pupils. We aim to shape their way of thinking and experiencing the world and, through them and our work in local society, influence the world. In brief, a King's education aims at the pursuit of unpretentious excellence.
Aims The school's aim is to provide a first class independent education, both through outstanding academic tuition and through giving to all its pupils the opportunities to develop wider sporting, artistic and social skills. The school nurtures spiritual growth and provides an environment where each pupil can develop and fulfil his or her potential, thus helping to build self-confidence and inculcate a desire to serve the wider community.
